Gujarat State is believed to be the paradise for chemical engineering.

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1996 and it had been the only chemical engineering department in the entire Saurashtra-Kutch region for almost 12 years since its inception.

The department has highly qualified staff. All the staff members are having postgraduate qualifications and amongst them few are pursuing doctoral studies. The department has high-tech facilities at their various laboratories viz.Chemical Reaction Engineering, Mass Transfer Operations, Heat Transfer, Instrumentation & Process Control, Environmental monitoring and testing lab, etc. These laboratories provide excellent environment for experimentation, testing and consultancy. The department has the latest software like MATLAB, POLYMATH, and GAMS, Scilab, etc. in its computer laboratory. Moreover, in view of increasing demand of simulation softwares in the chemical industries, the department has purchased CHEMCAD software (Perpetual License-CHEMCAD Suite), which is proprietary software from Chemstations Inc. USA..

The students from the department are successfully scoring high at the National Level Examinations like GATE and getting admissions in leading institutions like I.I.T.s, N.I.T.s, etc and being placed in the organizations such as ESSAR, NIRMA, BARC, Infosys- to name a few.
